Why We Love Tucson
This article authored by: Catherine Hallberg
There is no place quite like Tucson, Arizona. With some of the most beautiful scenery in the country, unbeatable weather, endless activities, and a great selection of restaurants for every palate, it is easy for anyone to fall in love with the Old Pueblo. The home of the University of Arizona, Tucson is a great place to retire or raise a family. Here are just a few of the things that make Tucson so great:
The Sun Is Almost Always Shining
There are hardly ever any drab, dull days in Tucson. With at least 286 sunny days each year, this is the perfect place for anyone who likes to spend time outside with the sun shining high in the sky. The dry, hot summers and beautiful winters are huge advantages to living in Tucson, and if you’re into outdoor activities, you very rarely have to worry about the weather posing a problem for you!
It Has Stunning Natural Beauty
Tucson sits nestled in a valley surrounded by five mountain ranges, providing beautiful mountain views everywhere you look. Mt. Lemmon is a popular camping area and provides a stunning escape from the desert. At 9,000 feet, a trip to Mt. Lemmon will transport you to a temperate forest landscape with running creeks, pine trees, and fresh mountain air. Another popular destination is Saguaro National Park, which is perfect for those who want to experience the beauty and tranquility of the desert. Saguaro National Park takes its name from the iconic cactus, and Southern Arizona is the only place in the world you can see them. In addition to Mt. Lemmon and Saguaro National Park, There are also numerous parks and recreation areas located all over the Tucson area, perfect for picnics, playtime, or barbeques.
There Are a Diverse Array of Things To Do
Tucson may have a small-town feel at times, but there are more than a million people in the Tucson metro area. This means that there is a diverse array of stuff going on all the time. You can easily check out an authentic Mexican restaurant and then head to the Pima Air & Space Museum in the late afternoon. Or if music is your thing, you could check out a concert at the Rialto, where big names come to perform on a regular basis. Into sports? Sports teams representing the University of Arizona have brought home several National Championships in basketball, baseball, soccer, swimming, and more. Like to gamble? Check out nearby Desert Diamond Casino. With museums, historical societies, and state parks, there is always something to see and to do in and around Tucson.
