The Houghton Corridor is Expanding!

You may know Civano as a picturesque environmentally conscious neighborhood located on the East side of Tucson between Irvington and Valencia Roads. Not only does it boast tree-lined streets, colorful homes and friendly neighbors, but it has its own club house, pool, coffeehouse and yoga studio.
Now a new community will be built on the East side of Houghton Road. The City of Tucson has sold 173 acres of land to be used for this project for a total of $8.26 million. Mattamy homes, one of the nation’s largest privately owned builders, will be developing a Master Planned Community along the desirable East side of the Houghton Corridor. They have constructed over 70,000 homes in dozens of communities across the US and Canada.
This community will be centered around healthy and active lifestyles complementing Civano’s theme. Fantasy Island, the well-known system of bike trails between Irvington and Valencia will be preserved as well as 106 acres to the north of the sale site. In addition, approximately 40 acres in the SW corner of the Civano Parcel will be used for a groundwater recharge facility and well site by Tucson Water.
Houghton Corridor is immensely popular for its shopping, restaurants and schools. Featuring numerous hiking and biking trails, East Tucson is becoming a draw for those seeking an outdoor lifestyle without paying Foothills prices. We look forward to watching this upcoming development grow and thrive.
